When Rad came to Crawley

Back when I was in my teens Rad magazine was The British skate mag. Tim Leighton Boyce was the Editor and one sunny sunday he came down to Crawley to do a feature on the local scene. I never got my face in but some good mates at the time did. Just check out how quiet Crawley town centre is! That's a sunday during the day, bet you'll never see Crawley town centre that quiet now, with skaters outnumbering everyone else!

The car

So this is my 1987 Opel Manta. Its heavily modified but hasnt seen the road since 2005, funnily enough not long after finding out my daughter Daisy was on the way....
Anyway its running a c20xe 16v Vauxhall engine on QED throttle bodies. Its got Willwood brakes, LSD, uprated suspension, 16" Team dynamic wheels, lots of body mods, lots of interior changes and.... well lets be honest, its not got much left on it that hasnt been changed or altered in some way. original it is not.

Hopefully I can get the engine rebuilt this year (knackered pistion rings) and get it back on the road by 2011. Apart from a few runs out in 2005 this thing has lived in my garage for the last 10 years now, the rebuild started in August 2000!
